Catch and Release Fly/Light Tackle Opportunities for Anglers of Every Skill Level!

The Bluffton/Hilton Head area offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities that span all seasons of the year. The constant target however, is the redfish. Whether you're chasing schools of fish on a low tide in December, or singling out tailing fish on a flooded grass flat in July, the excitement of the visual experience is what Captain Wesley strives to provide his clients whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Sight fishing redfish on fly and light tackle is a common objective of Marsh Rat Guide Service, but that's not the only fun to be had in our beautiful fishery. Trout and Flounder are another staple of our area that do not typically offer the same visual experience as the redfish, but provide a fun light tackle experience that most any angler will enjoy.

Last but not least, are the more seasonal big game fish. A slicked out day in the spring may result in looking for Cobia to sight fish on the surface. In the summer months, large schools of Jack Crevalle make their way into our Sounds, and in the right conditions present the chance to catch a true freight train of a fish with agression that will put a smile on anybody's face!

CAPTAIN WESLEY HODGES

Wesley grew up in the small town of Piedmont South Carolina where he cut his teeth fresh water fishing. During his junior year at Clemson University, he came to Hilton Head Island for a summer internship. That summer birthed his passion for fishing the Low Country and particularly for targeting redfish in shallow water. Soon after graduation, Wesley moved back to the Low Country and began his guiding career. He started fishing the surrounding waters of Hilton Head Island on a bay boat, and fished the shallow flats for redfish every chance he got. After his time guiding on a bay boat, Wesley purchased a Beavertail Mosquito and made the transition to fly/light tackle fishing full time where he strives to provide people the same fishing experiences that made him fall in love with fishing the Low Country.
